| Celtic Well> List Rules
We welcome all who, regardless of ethnic background or religious persuasion, are interested in discussing the objective evidence for Celtic religion. However, we expect that discussions will generally be at deeper than a basic level. Therefore, if you are a newcomer to Celtic studies, we suggest that you subscribe to another Celtic list, or begin by reading some of the sources listed in the "basic" section of the recommended reading list, rather than posting your questions to The Well list. Please bookmark this page for future reference.
The moderators reserve the right to ask participants to keep their discussions to the stated boundaries of the list. This is not the place to debate the merits of one form of religion over another. Other subjects that will be considered off-topic are politics, Wicca, and shamanism, except as they directly apply to Celtic religion or the study of Celtic religion. We encourage list participants to network with each other, but ask that personal conversations take place via private mail.
Participants are encouraged to be familiar with the sources and evidence for any statements they make. If another listmember asks for more information about your sources, please regard the request, not as an offense, but as an attempt to verify the facts and learn where to find more information about the subject. Seeking knowledge and debating issues are established traditions in Celtic countries. We on this list are all seeking to learn the facts in a world where a great deal of misinformation about the Celts is banded about. A sense of humor is welcome and encouraged. It is expected that participants will disagree, sometimes vehemently, but we encourage you to stick to debating the issues. Attacks on personalities and other personal aspects will not be tolerated. |
